A Baby With Atrial Septal Defect
It was a very sad moment for all of us at Bernadette Eyisi Foundation when we received the story of Baby Elliot.
Baby Elliot Somkenechukwu Nwankwo was born on the 24th of November, 2020 to the family of Mr Chukwuemeka and Mrs Augustina Nwankwo, natives of Ndiowu in Orumba South LGA of Anambra State.
Shortly after Elliot’s birth, he was diagnosed with an Atrial Septal Defect. This is a type of congenital heart disease whereby a baby is born with a hole in the wall of the Heart. Due to this condition, he requires a surgery to close up the hole to avoid damaging the blood vessels in his lungs.
This surgery will cost the parents a huge sum of money which they clearly don’t have. They have therefore resorted to seeking for support from well-meaning people across Nigeria to help them save their son.
It was in response to their clarion call that the Bernadette Eyisi Foundation (BEF) decided to offer them a little financial support in furtherance of the fund-raising effort.
Below are some pictures of our encounter with the family –
