BEF marks love-month with a special charity home in Lagos
To mark St Valentine’s Month (February), we at the Bernadette Eyisi Foundation (BEF), decided to join in spreading the message of concern for others, especially the less privileged in our midst, with a visit to the soul-stiring home of the Missionaries of Charity (the very exemplary daughters of Mother Theresa) located at 117, Demurin Street, Alapere, Ketu, Lagos on the 11th of February, 2020.
This Charity home houses up to 70 abandoned children with a large number of them are down with very severe health challenges like Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Paralysis, etc. A fewer percentage are physically and mentally well but are awaiting adoption by caring parents and organizations.
The home is managed by Reverend Sisters, with Sister Louis as their head.
In spite of their grave challenges, the children and the Sisters welcomed us with much excitement and enthusiasm. Sister Louis took us on a tour of the building to showcase the different activities the children engage in. We thereafter presented our widows mite to them.
We strongly recommend a visit to this very heart-touching Home by all (able bodied and non-able bodied; healthy and non-healthy). Apart from the fact that the residents could do with ANY support they could get from anyone, no matter how little, such a visit could offer a lot of benefits to our souls and sense of gratitude for whatever state we may find ourselves at any point in time!
All told, we are very grateful to God and the inimitable Missionaries of Charity for the opportunity given us to undertake this Love-Month’s visit
